Cowboys WR Michael Gallup (knee) isn’t sure when he’ll be ready to return. He said playing Week 1 is not a realistic possibility. “We got a little ways to go. It’s gotta get a little bit stronger. … I’m ready to get back out there and help the team win.”

In nine games last season, Gallup caught 35 passes for 445 yards and two touchdown. He was injured in September. After sitting for two months, he came back in November.

Gallup was lost for the year after he tore his knee in a game. He had surgery earlier this year.

Gallup signed a five-year contract to stay with the Cowboys.

Good news has emerged on Gallup's progress, so the question is when he will come back. McCarthy gave an encouraging report on Wednesday.

The Cowboys' wide receiver depth chart will be different this year.

Gallup is currently on the Physically Unable to perform list.

Both Cooper and Wilson are out of town. The unquestioned No. 1 wideout is Cee Dee Lamb.

Noah Brown was the team's top receiver last year with 16 catches and 184 yards.

According to Jon Machota of The Athletic, Tolbert is expected to start. The former South Alabama star, who went 88th overall in this year's draft, caught 81 passes for 1,474 yards and 8 scores last season.
