In each episode of MrBallen, series host John Allen appears in the center of the frame, usually wearing a plaid shirt with a couple of buttons undone and a baseball cap turned backwards, and slowly talking viewers through the events of a "strange, dark, and mysterious" true crime story Allen has more than 40 million monthly views on episodes like "What I saw in my room still haunt me" and "Real-life 'ghost ship' has a secret", but it's not enough to get him into the top tier of YouTubers. Is it possible that it's in podcasting? He is a famous person.

Steven Cohen, a long time audio industry sales executive, was shocked when he found out about the MrBallen statistics. He said that the show was putting up numbers that he had never seen before. The opportunity was large enough that Cohen decided to leave his role as vice president of the Audacy-owned network to join the show.

Last month, the show got nearly 7 million downloads

According to Cohen, July is on track to do the same as May. It's less than 40 million. 7 million monthly downloads will get you a spot at the top of the charts on both Apple and Spotify.

There are a few things in favor of the show, including the demand for true crime content and Allen's radio voice. MrBallen's success is indicative of the merging of the two video sharing websites.

The resemblance was first noticed by Allen after he launched the show on the internet. There is a video show on the internet. He said that they don't call it that but that's what it is. I didn't know how to scale a channel into something else. I wanted to do a show, but I didn't have enough bandwidth.

He brought on a business manager, Nick Witters, and created a sustained audience on the video sharing website. It didn't take long for his show to get a lot of listens. Even if the raw numbers in podcasting are less than what they see on the internet, it gave the brand more exposure.

Even though the bar is lower in podcasting, it's still not easy to break out. Long-standing shows like The Joe Rogan Experience and My Favorite Murder are still dominating the charts despite the discovery problem of thePodcast. Some of the newer hits are from celebrities, such as Smart Less with Will Arnett, Sean Hayes, and Glenn Howerton.

It is necessary to be an audio star. Club Random with Bill Maher is one of the videos that have been hosted on Apple's Podcasts. The company recently announced it was expanding the video podcasts feature to six more countries, including France, Mexico, and Brazil. Audiences like having the video option, and Apple is interested in warding off the competition. Video clips are more likely to be shared than audio ones.

Mr Ballen has not yet fused its video and audio operations. There are some differences between the episodes of the podcasts.

Next month, MrBallen is launching a new YouTube channel for videos of the podcast recordings

Soon, that divide will be over. Cohen wants to have all of those things meet in the middle. MrBallen is going to launch a new YouTube channel on August 8th that will feature videos of the podcasts.

While other shows have spawned networks, Allen and Cohen want to focus on the core product for now. Cohen said they want to be very careful before expanding. We are rocking this very gently to bed to make sure it sleeps well and wakes up refreshed the next day.

The audio industry is growing every Tuesday.
