Antonio Gandy- Golden, a fourth-round pick in 2020, retired from football on Thursday.
Before the team's 9 a.m. practice, Gandy- Golden told Rivera about his plans. He told Rivera that he wanted to go back to school. Hemajored in graphic design while playing football.
Gandy-Golden was drafted by Washington two years ago in hopes of becoming a big receiving target. He was on injured reserve because of a injury. He had one catch and 22 carries.
He was signed to the practice squad by Washington after it released him. He played in four games and didn't catch a pass. He was moved to the tight end position. He was hoped to help in the passing game.
Rivera said that the man was doing a great job. He showed his ability during the mini camp and theOTA. I was surprised that we didn't think this was a problem for us.
Rivera thought Gandy- Golden had lost his passion for the game.
Rivera said that it sounded like. He didn't feel it yet. He wanted to finish his studies and see what else is out there.
He has a bright future because he is a bright young man.
