A decades-long career in film and television brought Cribbins many beloved roles, from guest turns in Fawlty Towers to his appearances in the Carry On series.
In the movie Daleks: Invasion Earth 2150 A.D., he played a police officer named Tom Campbell, who was a companion to Dr. Who. In the program's revived era, Cribbins reprised his role as the grandfather of Donna Noble, who was introduced in the Christmas special of 2007, in what was initially a one-off role. The fourth season of the show featured multiple appearances by Cribbins, who is best known for making a lot of Doctor Who fans cry in his most powerful scene.
