The son-in-law of former President Trump claims in a new book that John Kelly pushed his wife after a tense Oval Office meeting.

According to an excerpt of "Breaking History: A White House Memoir" obtained by The Washington Post, Kelly had a "Jekyll-and- Hyde" disposition and only once did he let his mask slip.

He had just walked out of a meeting in the Oval Office. Ivanka walked down the hallway in the West Wing. She wasn't aware of his state of mind. Kelly pushed her away from the way. She wasn't hurt, and didn't make a big deal about the altercation, but Kelly showed his true character.

Kelly stopped by the office of the president's daughter to apologize.

Kelly denied the account, writing in an email to the newspaper that he doesn't remember the episode and that he wouldn't do something like that.

I don't think I would ever shove a woman. Is it possible? Kelly said that never happened. It wouldn't be intentional to do that. I never apologized to her for something I didn't do. I would recall that.

They have clashed before.

The former chief of staff was angry with the couple and blamed them for the change in policy the president made.

In her book, Ward claimed that President Trump told Kelly that he didn't know how to play the game and that he wanted to get rid of his daughter and son in law.

At the time, the Trump White House said that the former president's family believed that Kelly allowed the political attacks to be exposed.
