If England win the women's Euros, the country won't get an extra bank holiday.

Fans of the team are calling for a holiday if the team wins the final.

Sir Keir Starmer proposed a proper day of celebration in England if it happened.

The team's success will be celebrated, but the cost of a bank holiday is very high.

The highest ranked team in the tournament, Sweden, was thrashed by England in the semi-finals.

The Prime Minister faced calls to hold a bank holiday if the men's team won the Euro 2020 final.

Mr Johnson said before the match that announcing a holiday would be "tempting fate".

Sir Keir was asked about the calls while at the match.

He said that the whole country will be cheering for the Lionesses.

If they win it will be a truly historic achievement, one that should be marked with a proper day of celebration, where clubs can open and promote access for women and girls.

Both the Conservative and Liberal Democrat leaders told the paper they supported the idea.

The government said that the Lionesses have done England proud.

The whole country will be cheering for them and hoping for a win against Germany on Sunday. Their success will be celebrated by us.

While an additional bank holiday may benefit some communities and sectors, the cost to the economy of an additional bank holiday is considerable.

The final between England and Germany will be played on Sunday.
