Sources told Jeff Passan that the New York Yankees are close to a deal to acquire Andrew Benintendi.
The Yankees are sending three minor league pitching prospects to the Royals in exchange for the 28-year-old Ben Andrew, who is a left-handed pitcher.
The baseball player was named to his first All-Star game. In 93 games this season, he's batting a career-best.320 with three home runs and 39RBI.
"He's obviously a really good player, but I'm not sure if it's official, but I think he's a really good player," the Yankees manager said. Right now, the Royals are putting together a good season. I think he will fit in well if we get him.
In his first season with the Royals, Andrew Benintendi earned a Gold Glove for hitting 17 homers and 73RBI. He was acquired by the Kansas City Royals in a three-team trade that also involved the New York Mets.
