Some potentially major wins for the climate were included in a deal struck by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Senator Joe Manchin.
The bill, which was announced Wednesday but has not yet been released, is intended to address high inflation and deliver on some of President Joe Biden's promises.
According to a fact sheet obtained by CNN, the agreement would cut carbon emissions by 40% by the year 2030.
A blow to the party's efforts to address the climate crisis was dealt earlier this month when Manchin, a West Virginia Democrat, indicated he wouldn't support additional climate spending.
In a lengthy statement released Wednesday, Manchin said the deal was smaller than what other Democrats wanted.
Manchin supports a plan that lowers prices today and invests in the long game.
The bill focuses on transitioning energy to more sustainable technologies and away from fossil fuels.
Nancy Pelosi stated that the plan includes a goal to reduce carbon pollution by 40% by the year 2030.
She said it was good news for House Democrats, who have fought to lower the cost of health care, combat the climate crisis and ensure that the wealthiest pay their fair share.
The climate provisions were praised by other Democrats.
I can't believe it." Stunned, but in a good way.
The climate agreements were celebrated by Whitehouse.
The Democrats are about to take the biggest, most serious step in congressional history to lead the fight against climate change. Whitehouse said that in doing so, we will lower energy costs and begin to free ourselves from dependence on foreign dictators.
"While this agreement appears to be a big step towards climate safety, it alone won't be enough to reduce emissions consistent with what science tells us we must do if we are to avoid the very worst effects of climate change," he wrote.
