Zeke not feeling pressure over contract, future with Cowboys (0:26)

He doesn't worry about his future with the Cowboys. There is a time and a place.

Many are wondering if this will be his last year with the Dallas Cowboys due to the lack of guaranteed money on his contract.

One of them is not wondering.

"I think it is a big season, but I don't think you can look too far down the road," he added. If I focus on every day, if I focus on having a good day of camp, if I focus on taking it week by week, everything will handle itself. There is no reason to look that far down the road. I think I will have a good situation at the end of the season if I handle my business daily.

As part of his $90 million extension, he signed a $12.4 million base salary guarantee. There is no more money in his contract that the Cowboys can use to move on from him. He is going to make over $10 million in the next five years.

In his first two seasons, the per-game rushing average has fallen from 108.7 to 58.9.

His knee injury in the fourth game of the season was one of the reasons he dropped last year. Through the first five games last year, he was on pace for more than 1,500 yards. He finished with 1,002 yards and 10 touchdown on 236 carries, but only topped 69 yards once in the last 12 games.

He wore a bulky brace on his knee for more than a month to protect him from injury.

It was frustrating for certain parts of the year but it was football. Everyone is going to be 100% today. Everyone is going to have bumps and bruised and no one is going to be 100, so I have to do everything I can to preserve my health and be ready for Sunday.

There was never a thought of missing a game. He has never missed a game due to injury.

There are a lot of players in the league who will sit down if things don't go their way. Stephen Jones said that was not the case. I admire the fact that he wants to be out there for his team and his teammates. We will get 21's best effort week in and week out. He is a good football player.

The knee didn't heal fast enough after the season ended, but surgery wasn't an option.

"I was a little worried at the beginning of the season, like, 'Dang, this thing still feels a little iffy,'" "But I'll say probably a month or two into the off-season, a month or two getting back into work, and I'll say probably by the timeOTAs hit, I was back 100," he said.

He was able to work with his coach.

It's difficult to be injured and feel like you lose a step. It helped me get back to moving at the speed I was used to and bring my confidence back to myself.

The Cowboys think they have one of the best running back tandems in the league. Pollard had a career high in carries last year. Some are calling for a more equitable split in touches after he caught 39 passes for 337 yards.

As the Cowboys look to replace some of receiver Amari Cooper's production in different ways, Pollard andElliott could see more action on the field. A key figure will beElliott.

"Zeke is a big part of this team," McCarthy said. He is a key player. The communication, his ability to do all the extra little stuff and those are things that I get to see and be a part of. He is in the quarterback meetings in the morning before and after practice. He overcame a lot to play and that speaks volumes about him and you need those type of individuals to win titles.
