Dee Ford no longer plays for the 49ers.

Ford had been released by the team. The 49ers acquired him in a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs.

In San Francisco, the auburn product never lived up to expectations due to injury concerns.

He was a Pro Bowler with the Chiefs in his last season, but never reached that level in theNFC. Ford played in just one game in 2020 and six games in the previous year, despite posting a 6.5 sacks in 11 games in 2019.

He managed three sacks in six games in 2021, but it was a far cry from when he was at his best.

Ford has two seasons with double-digit sack totals in his career but will likely always be associated with the play that ended the Chiefs' season.

Ford lined up in the neutral zone to start the play as Kansas City appeared to be on its way to a victory over New England in the playoffs.

After being released from San Francisco, Ford will have to find a new team to win the Super Bowl.
