Chelsea fans in the safe-standing section at Stamford Bridge for their game against Liverpool in January - the first licensed standing allowed at a top flight ground in England for 30 years

During the 2022-23 season, safe standing will be tested at the men's European club competition in England, Germany and France.

Standing facilities will be looked at to see if they can be reintroduced.

It is limited to countries where safe standing is in place.

The safe standing areas for the league were approved in July.

Up to and including the semi-finals will be included in the trial.

Uefa said the goal is to assess if and under what conditions standing may be reintroduced.

There are six teams in the European Conference League and six teams in the European Championship League.

At the Westfalenstadion, a safe standing area has existed for a number of years.

For the first time, their European home games will be attended by 81,365 fans, which is their usual capacity for Bundesliga matches, according to a statement on their website.

A government-commissioned pilot study was done last season with four of the top five teams in the league.

It was the first time in almost 30 years that a top-flight ground allowed licensed standing when the two teams met in the league.

The introduction of all-seater stadiums in the early 1990s led to the Taylor Report's recommendation ofDesignated standing areas at the premier league grounds.
