'Leave It To Beaver' Star Tony Dow Dead At 77 After Premature Death Announcement

A premature death announcement was made from the actor's management team.

"We have received confirmation from Christopher, Tony's son, that Tony passed away earlier this morning, with his loving family at his side to see him through this journey."

A statement on Tony's official Facebook account announcing the death of the actor was taken down hours later after his management team found out the actor was alive.

Tony's manager told us that Tony's wife, Lauren, who was very distraught at the time, thought her husband was dead.

Christopher posted Tuesday that his father was at home and in the final hours. My wife and I are by his side. The man has a fighting heart.

Tony was diagnosed with cancer in the spring. An update on Tony's fight with cancer was published last week. Tony has been in and out of the hospital multiple times.

Tony was born in Hollywood, California and became famous as "Wally Cleaver" on the show. He served in The National Guard for two years before taking a break. He reprised his role as Wally from 1983 to 1989.

Tony acted in "Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star" in the 2000's.

Tony was older than 75.
