CNN reported Wednesday that the Biden Administration offered to send convicted arms dealer Viktor Bout back to Russia in exchange for the release of two Americans who are imprisoned in Russia.
The swap was approved by President Joe Biden, according to anonymous sources.
The Secretary of State did not explain the details of the proposal that was put on the table weeks ago.
In May, Forbes reported that the Biden Administration was in preliminary talks to trade for Bout, who was sentenced to 25 years in federal prison.
The State Department has been contacted by Forbes.
