Draymond Green will not be offered a maximum contract extension by the Golden State Warriors, according to a report.
With a week left before Green is eligible for a new deal, there isn't any current traction on any type of extension.
Green will make $25.8 million next season and has a $28.6 million player option for the next two seasons. He is eligible for a four-year extension.
According to the report, Green thinks he deserves the full maximum. If the Warriors don't give him the long-term deal he wants, he might be willing to explore his options outside of Golden State.
With the cost of their roster about to get even more expensive, the Warriors are in a financial crisis. The last year of their contracts could be the one for Green, Andrew and Jordan. If the Warriors' luxury-tax penalties were taken into account, a contract extension for Poole would take his salary for 2022-23 and then add it to it again for the next two decades.
The Golden State Warriors paid an NBA-record 347 million dollars for their roster last year. The Warriors are pushing the limits of what they can spend, according to the governor.
Something will have to be said about player extensions. It is more likely that the Warriors make changes to their roster to keep expenses in check.
