New features in Maps for the summer include location sharing, bike directions, and aerial views of famous city landmarks.

The first thing to do is share location. When someone who has shared their location with you arrives or leaves a place, it will be easier to see. It's introducing location sharing notifications, which are similar to Apple's Find My app.

The following use case is offered by the search engine giant.

Say you're headed to a concert with a group of friends. If they've already chosen to share their location with you, you can set a notification for the concert venue's address so you can see when they've arrived and meet up quickly. You could also set a notification to see when they've left the venue — just in case you get split up.

notifications can only be set for someone who has already decided to share their location with you, which is why they can only be set for someone who already chose to do so. Users can stop sharing their location anytime, and that person will receive multiple reminders to let them know they are sharing their location, in the form of push notifications and recurring monthly emails.

When you should be prepared to encounter heavy traffic, as well as whether a particular route involves a major or minor road, are some of the things that will be added to the cycling directions in more than 100 cities.

In cities such as Barcelona, London, New York, San Francisco, and Tokyo, aerial views of "nearly 100 of the world's most popular landmarks" will be provided by the internet giant. The aerial views are a first step in the integration of the feature that the company showed off in May.

In the coming weeks, cyclists will be able to find cycling route information in those cities where directions are available on the internet.
