Good news for travelers who want to have one less thing to do when going through U.S. airport security checkpoints. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has been slowly rolling out their new Credential Authentication Technology (CAT) and they’re now in over a hundred airports, listed below.

In order to ensure ID verification, reservation verification and Secure Flight pre-screening status are known in "near" real-time at the airport security checkpoint, the Cat is a security game-changer.

Travelers no longer need to show their boardings pass and photo ID. How many times have you been stuck behind someone who used their boarding pass and their phone auto-locks? The reader might not be able to read theQR code. Sometimes I was the culprit and other times I was the one who did it. It takes a lot of time.

Each photo ID will be inserted into the machine and scanned and analyzed. The photos captured by the CAT units will not be used for anything other than identity verification in the security checkpoint.

Passengers still need to check-in with their airline and they will need their boarding pass to board the plane, but at least this speed up the security line.

There are acceptable forms of identification.

Every passenger over the age of 18 must have a valid ID. The following types of identification can be scanned by the cat.
