Sean Hannity of Fox News said that Nancy Pelosi was to blame for the violence at the US Capitol.

"Don't forget, President Trump requested increased National Guard support in the days leading up to January 6 and the request was rejected by the Speaker of the House," said the host. The former chief of staff joined in and claimed the former president wanted 10,000 National Guard troops to make sure that everything was safe and secure.

According to testimony heard by the committee, Trump watched the violence at the Capitol unfold on television and never called for the military to quell it.

Christopher Miller, the former acting secretary of defense, told the committee that no request was made before January 6.

Miller said that he was surprised to see the claims on cable news, since he had never been given a director or order. We had plans to act more people, but that was just contingency planning. There was no official traffic for that.

Miller served as defense secretary from November 2020 to January 2021 and was asked to be precise.

"Just so we're clear," he said, "you did not have 10,000 troops, quote, 'to be on the ready' before January 6th."

Miller said that a non military person could have a weird interpretation. The answer is no, that was not part of my plan.
