  • After their flight was canceled, a mother and daughter were forced to leave an airport.

  • Demetrious said security was called when she was trying to find a place to stay.

  • Demetrious had no other choice but to book a hotel room for the night.

The woman said she was forced to leave the airport after she asked for overnight accommodations when her flight was canceled.

"I thought the airline crisis wouldn't affect me, but it did, and I'm not sure what I'm going to do about it," said Demetrious.

Demetrious and her mother waited through nine delays before their flight was canceled.

They arrived at the airport in Massachusetts over an hour before their flight was scheduled to leave.

She and her mother were told by airport representatives that their plane would leave at 2 am, but at that time customers who had been waiting at the gate started to leave. The airport did not operate past midnight.

Airport representatives announced at midnight that the airport was shutting down after the flight was canceled. Depending on the current flight schedules of our airline tenants, the terminal is usually open from 5 am to 10 pm.

She said that one airport representative escorted Demetrious to the main terminal to claim her luggage.

Demetrious asked a staff member at the main terminal if they could point them to a nearby hotel or give them a place to stay. She said the airline employees she spoke to seemed "irritated" with a "Why are you even bothering me and trying to speak to me kind of attitude"

The representative of the airline wouldn't give her any assistance if she was directed to the main terminal for help.

Demetrious said that he was very upset by the way he was being treated. They didn't have the decency to give me three names of hotels that might or might not have availability that I could check.

Demetrious and her mother were escorted out of the airport by security after Demetrious called for a hotel.

Demetrious and her mother were locked out of the airport after midnight.

Demetrious said that there was no soul on the lot except for him and his mother. Someone could pull up with their car and cause harm to us if I had all my cards.

She said that she felt like she was being treated like an animal and that she was confused by the situation.

Demetrious booked a room at a hotel for $631 that night.

She said she had no choice but to risk her and her mother's safety by spending three months' worth of her student loan payments in a hotel room.

Demetrious was told by the airport management that there was nothing they could do as the employees she talked to were employed by the airline. They said they weren't responsible when Demetrious called them.

Demetrious said that he lied when he said that he was frustrated at the way the whole thing was being handled.

She said that she told the airport and airline representatives that they were not responsible for anything.

Nantucket Memorial Airport employees don't staff the airline ticket counters or work airline flights, so the airport representative diverted requests for comment to the airline's customer service contact.

The airline did not reply to the request.

I don't want something bad to happen to me after I died in front of the airport. The airport isn't responsible for that. Who is responsible for the situation? Demetrious made a statement.

The experience has prompted her to rethink her travel plans.

Demetrious said that he loves traveling because he learns more about the world. It sucks that I'm going to look back on this particular trip that had good memories but was ruined by the bad memories of trying to go back home.
