Jim Harbaugh and his players know that Ohio State is looking to avenge last season's loss. The loss is still on the minds of the Ohio State players and they have a game circled for this season.
Harbaugh was confident in his team and what he would see from them when they traveled to Columbus to play the Buckeyes.
Harbaugh said that they would not flinch. I don't need to teach them or show them. By now I know our team very well. We want to win the championship again, because they don't blink, they don't flinch, and they just keep attacking.
Harbaugh said that he has seen the same type of player-led leadership he saw last year, and that his players haven't shown any satisfaction or entitlement from the results from last year. Harbaugh knows there is more that can be done and he is not sitting on his laurels.
Harbaugh said that last season was good. Let's see if we score all four goals. Michigan State and Ohio State need to be beaten in the same year. Let's win the Big Ten title. Let's go after those four goals.
Harbaugh admitted to being happier after watching his players feel a type of success they hadn't felt since Harbaugh arrived at Michigan.
"I was walking through the Detroit airport a couple of weeks ago, going to baggage claim, and a guy came up to me and said, 'Coach Harbaugh, I just want to tell you how great you are.' The season was a great one. Harbaugh told the coach to keep it up. You are looking happy. You have a happy expression on your face. At that point, I was reminded of the source of happiness. My players need to enjoy that.
The win against Ohio State meant a lot to him. Seeing his players happy and excited about winning has made them want to work harder in the off-season.
When they return to Ohio, Harbaugh said, they can walk around town with their heads high. You don't have to listen to people say when are you going to beat Ohio State. All that and more is what it is.
