Back in April, producer Barbara Broccoli and director Cary Joji Fukunaga shared the A-list cast of the upcoming James Bond 25 flick No Time to Die. Among the members was Rami Malek, taking on the role of a villain whose name has just been revealed, alongside some new details about the character.

According to sources, Malek will play one of the toughest adversaries for Bond in the history of the franchise. "He is really the supervillain. He's the one that really gets under Bond's skin, said Broccoli in a press interview. "He's a nasty piece of work." The name will be Safin, a villain armed with "dangerous new technology" who puts Bond through a series of hurdles in order to prevent him from rescuing the scientist Safin has kidnapped.

Before signing on for the role, however, Malek discussed with director Cary Fukunaga to learn more about the character's background because he didn't want to play a villain that would be identified with "any act of terrorism reflecting an ideology or a religion." Luckily, Fukunaga has planned for a "very different kind of terrorist." No Time to Die will mark Daniel Craig's fifth and final Bond film, while other newcomers like Ana de Armas ( Blade Runner 2049), Billy Magnussen ( Game Night), Dali Benssalah and David Dencik ( Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) will be joining.

No Time to Die is expected to hit the big screens in April 2020. Scroll below for the trailer as well as a video of Malek discussing the upcoming role.

Elsewhere, GoT creators David Benioff & D.B. Weiss have departed from the planned Star Wars Trilogy.
