According to Ian Rapoport, Chris Carson will retire from football due to a neck injury.

He will be released with a failed physical designation. Carson can get millions of dollars in injury protection benefits. Seattle does what it's supposed to do by him.

He spent his entire five-year career in Seattle after being selected in the seventh round of the NFL draft. In 49 games, he ran for 3,502 yards and 24 touchdown. He caught over 800 passes and scored seven times.

During his first season in the league, he fractured his leg. He had back-to-back 1,000-plus yard rushing seasons in both of the last two years. He ran for 1,151 yards and scored nine times in two years.

His production dropped off in 2020 as he ran for 681 yards and 5 scores. He appeared in just four games during the 2020 campaign, rushing for 232 yards and three scores, before having neck surgery.

He told Jonathan Adams of Heavy.com that he didn't have a plan to retire and that he didn't have a timetable to return from his neck surgery.

"We're going right now," he said. I see myself playing until I can't anymore. My mindset is always to keep going. I'm sticking to my guns and fighting to get back onto the field.

The Seahawks can rely on running backs like Kenneth Walker III and DeeJay Dallas if they need them. A year ago,Penny led the team in rushing with 749 yards.

Walker was drafted in the second round of the NFL draft. He ran for 1,636 yards and 18 touchdown for the Spartans in the 2021 season.

Dallas has resided in Seattle for the last two years. He ran for over 100 yards and scored two times.
