The price of Amazon's Prime subscription in Europe will go up by 43 percent in September. The annual Prime cost in the UK will increase from £79 to £95 from September 15th. The price went from 49 per year in France to 69.90 in just one year.

Amazon will increase prices in Spain and Italy by 39 percent annually, and in Germany by 30 percent annually. Just months after the price of Prime in the US rose to $139 per year, Amazon is increasing the price in Europe. Most markets include fast shipping, access to sales, and free movie and TV streaming.

The monthly cost of Prime in European markets is going to go up by 1 euro. The discount that is applied to yearly subscriptions is not included in the monthly rates. Amazon Prime prices increase across Europe every year.

  • UK - £79 to £95, a 20 percent increase
  • France - €49 to €69.90, a 43 percent increase
  • Germany - €69 to €89.90, a 30 percent increase
  • Italy - €36 to €49.90, a 39 percent increase
  • Spain - €36 to €49.90, a 39 percent increase

The UK is Amazon's third biggest market behind the US and the US. According to a market research firm, more than half of households in the UK have an Amazon Prime subscription.

The price increases are blamed on inflation and operating costs. Amazon is set to post its Q2 earnings results next week. Amazon lost money for the first time in seven years last quarter, with the company blaming rising costs of fuel, transportation, and warehouse storage.
