Doug Mastriano, the Pennsylvania Republican facing criticism for refusing to cut ties with a social media platform popular with Christian nationalists, has endorsed the reelection bid of an Arizona Republican who has welcomed the support of white nationalists.
In a video posted on her Telegram, Wendy Rogers, a state senator who was censured by her party after appearing at a white nationalist conference earlier this year, boasted of the endorsement from Mastriano.
Thank you, Colonel, for endorsing us! Rogers said something. We're rooting for you in Pennsylvania as well.
The state senator was described in the video as a good friend.
He said that she was a champion for freedom. She is strong and brave. She is a leader.
Rogers is trying to keep her seat after winning it in 2020. On August 2, GOP primary voters will choose between her and state Sen.
The Southern Poverty Law Center described Rogers as an "outspoken admirer of fascists" after he spoke at the conference. He is described as a white supremacist by the Anti-Defamation League.
The Republican Party is run by Jews, atheists, and homosexuals according to the man.
Townsend said she was horrified by what she saw after Rogers' participation in the conference was made public. The FBI has identified a young far-right political commentator as a white supremacist, and he has an online following known as "Groypers," according to a previously written description.
Rogers has embraced so-called "groypers" while deeming her white nationalist audience "patriotic" and has doubled down on controversy.
She attacked President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who is Jewish, as a "globalist puppet for Soros" after Russia invaded Ukrainian.
She said she wouldn't apologize for being white.
The federal government staged the mass killing of Black shoppers at a supermarket in Buffalo, New York, according to Rogers.
Rogers was censured by the Arizona state Senate for engaging in conduct that was unbecoming of a senator.
Rogers' membership in the Oath Keepers has come under scrutiny since the paramilitary group's leadership was charged with a seditious conspiracy over their involvement in the January 6 insurrection.
Mastriano, who won a plurality in the GOP primary to become his party's Trump backed candidate for governor, has been criticized for cozying up to far-right extremists. The attorney general of Pennsylvania is Jewish.
Mastriano's campaign was attacked for "plunging his campaign deeper into toxic Extremism and Conspiracy Theories."
"It's appalling to see Mastriano team up with an out-of-state politician who spends her time with white nationalists and peddles horrible antisemitism, but it's unsurprising that they're two peas in a Pod," he said.
The man who murdered 11 Jews at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh used a social network popular with extremists. Andrew Torba is a self-proclaimed Christian nationalist who has frequently posted antisemitic rants.
The Republican Jewish Coalition said in a statement that Jewish voters expect candidates to condemn antisemitism, whether it comes from the far left or the far right. Doug Mastriano should end his association with Gab because it is seen by Jewish Americans as a cesspool of bigotry and antisemitism.
Mastriano did not reply to the request.
