Roquan Smith is one of the bright spots on a lackluster Chicago Bears roster, but he won't be at training camp, according to reports.

Smith won't participate in training camp because of his contract situation according to Ian Rapoport. Smith will wait until he receives an offer he would remotely consider.

One of the most overlooked players in the league is Smith.

Smith is the only player in the last 23 years to have at least 300 or more tackles and 30 or more tackles for loss in a season. Smith hasn't been named to an All-Pro team in his first four seasons.

The Georgia product was selected by the Chicago Bears with the 8th pick in the draft.

He had 163 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, three sacks, three passes defended and one interception as the anchor of the Bears defense. He played in every game for the third time.

It remains to be seen if Smith will be in a Bears uniform for the rest of his life.

The Bears are in a transition period with first-year general manager Ryan Poles and first-year head coach Matt Eberflus, and the team already traded cornerstone defender Khalil Mack.

Even if it takes some time for the franchise to build a contender, Smith is young enough to remain a focal point of the defense for years to come.
