They were loud and beat the drums against Judge being the American League's Most Valuable Player. It was true.

Before the All-Star Game in Los Angeles, the very same game that Judge was the leading vote-getter by fans in MLB America, there were stories written and talking heads about Ohtani for the Most Valuable Player award.

Ohtani was a batting threat as well as a pitcher. The unanimous American League Most Valuable Player from a year ago was Babe Ruth again.

The Ohtani love and admiration is wrong.

The best player on the best team is Judge. After the All-Star Break, Judge made all the baseball people know what he was doing all season.

Judge hit a two-run home run in the Yankees win over the Orioles on Sunday. He is batting.529 with four homers and 11 runs scored in four games. He was given 37 by the judge. Everyone in that department is led by him.

The Yankees have a 66-31 record and are the best team in baseball. He is the front-runner at the moment.

Is the Angels included? They're not going anywhere. They are in fourth place in the American League West and have only 23 games left in the season. Ohtani has a.259 batting average with 20 home runs and 57 runs scored, and he has a 2.80 earned run average, which is good for ninth in the American League.

J.D.Martinez entered the picture. There was fuel to the Ohtani fire at the All-Star Game. He was going to win the Most Valuable Player award for a second year in a row.

He told the media in L.A. that he thought it was a no-brainer. How are you competing with Ohtani? For the next five years, he is going to win it. You won't beat him if he pitches and hits.

Last year, you can see Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Nobody is going to win it if he didn't win it. I think it is too much. Who can affect the game on both sides? It should be called The Ohtani Award.

It's time to stop it.

He is a prisoner of the moment His hype of Ohtani isn't context.

Russell was supposed to have won four straight NBA Most Valuable Player awards. He averaged a triple-double and won the Most Valuable Player award. He was the first player since Oscar Robertson in 1961.

The NBA has a record for most triple-doubles by a single player.

He didn't keep winning the Most Valuable Player despite piling up double-digits in points, rebound and assists.

He averaged a triple-double for the next three seasons after winning the Most Valuable Player award. He didn't finish higher than fifth in the voting for the award. He was 11th in the voting when he was playing for the Wizards.

He got triple-doubles this year and nobody noticed. They don't think it was a big deal. I don't think that's fair.

He should have won the award a second time. If he averaged a triple-double again, and didn't win the Most Valuable Player, then why keep his statistics?

Big O, it is not just about the statistics. Winning and context are important when it comes to collecting statistics.

Ohtani hasn't had a lot of at-bats since opening day. Ohtani was missing when his team needed him the most. During the 14-game losing streak that cost Joe Maddon his job, he was M.I.A.

Judge has been a big hit for the Yankees this season. That is what you refer to as an average person.
