According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Rasheed Wallace won't be joining the LA Lakers coaching staff.
Wallace agreed to the role, according to Charania.
The head coach of the Lakers is a friend of Wallace's from their time together with the Pistons. The 2003-04 team that won the NBA title beat the Lakers in the finals.
During his 16-year NBA career, Wallace was a four-time All-Star and appeared in six different organizations.
The 47-year-old spent one season as an assistant for the Pistons after his playing career, and he was also an assistant at the University of Memphis last year.
Kevin Garnett praised Wallace as a genius and a mastermind, who would have aided Anthony Davis and LeBron James in their coaching careers.
After a disappointing season, Los Angeles needs someone to help turn things around.
