Reality Winner — an ex-NSA contractor jailed by the Trump administration for leaking a top-secret document on Russian election hacking — says she's 'not a traitor'

• Reality Winner was sentenced to five years in prison for leaking a US report on Russian election interference.

• After four years of imprisonment she was released in June 2021.

• She said she leaked the documents out of love for her country.

A former National Security Agency contractor imprisoned for leaking a document about Russian hacking in the 2016 election insists that she is not a traitor.

Reality Winner was arrested and confessed to taking classified intelligence documents.

She was accused of mailing top- secret information from the National Security Agency. The Russian government tried to hack a US voting software supplier.

The man was sentenced to more than five years in prison last year. In June 2021. she was released for good behavior.

According to CBS, Winner said she thought something wasn't right after watching Trump try to muddy the water.

I kept thinking that someone needed to step forward and make this right. Winner told the outlet that somebody was involved.

It was a secret. I knew that I had promised to serve the American people. She said it felt like they were being led astray.

In an interview with CBS, Winner said that she did not betray the US by leaking the document.

In May of last year, it was tearing our country in half.

She told CBS how it feels to be called a terrorist.

I've tried to say I'm not a terrorist for the last four years. I can't discuss my indictment. There is a sense of accomplishment in having survived a prison sentence.

She was accused of being part of the same groups that she had fought against in the Air Force.
