The Los Angeles Angels are on the verge of missing the playoffs for the eighth year in a row and other teams are interested in them. It will be difficult to get one of their stars.
The Angels have received calls regarding two-way star Shohei Ohtani, but Los Angeles would seek established major leaguers in return as opposed to prospects, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.
The approach of the Angels is not the same as other teams. The Washington Nationals are one of the teams that have trade offers for a star. The Nationals are looking for a combination of prospects and major leaguers with low service time in order to build for the future, according to a report.
One club official told them they would have to rip up their farm system to meet that price.
The Angels would be asking a contender to destroy its major league roster if they were to seek established MLB stars in exchange for Ohtani. It's not likely that a team in the running for a title would be willing to pay more.
"If the Angels are going to move Ohtani, it probably wouldn't happen until this offseason, when teams would be in better position to replace players they trade." It's hard to imagine Los Angeles getting the same compensation for the American League's Most Valuable Player.

The Angels snapped a five-game losing streak with a 9-1 victory over the Braves. They haven't won in their last 12 games. Los Angeles is in fourth place in the American League West.
At the beginning of the year, trading Ohtani seemed impossible. It might be time for the Angels to retool their roster and use one of their stars to acquire assets as the team continues to struggle.
