  • Hogan said GOP governors are concerned about how a Trump run will affect the elections.

  • Reports say that Trump could run as early as September.

  • Hogan said it would cost them seats in purple battlefields.

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan said that he and other Republicans are worried about how the party's chances will be affected by Donald Trump's candidacy for president.

Hogan said that they had discussions at the Republican Governors Association last week.

Hogan said that most people were concerned about the damage that would be done to the party if he announced now. It might help in red states. It will cost us seats if he were to do that.

Trump has not announced whether or not he will run for president in 2024, but he has repeatedly teased a run, telling his supporters they will be very happy with his decision. According to recent reports, he could announce in September. Some in the GOP, including his allies, worry it could derail the party's messaging, which has mostly consisted of attacks against President Joe Biden and a focus on high inflation and gas prices

Hogan said that Trump already lost the White House, the Senate, the House, and now he's costing us governor seats and Senate seats.

He was unsure if Trump would run again.

His ego might not be able to take another loss. It's difficult to lose to Joe Biden. He said that he liked to be the center of attention.

Hogan couldn't run for reelection because of term limits in Maryland. He endorsed a candidate who lost in the primary. Hogan doesn't think Cox can win.
