A boy's finger was broken by a chess robot in a tournament that ended Thursday.

The video footage of the moment was posted on the Telegram channel of the Russian-language news outlet, and it said that the boy had a broken jaw but was otherwise fine.

The robot squeezed the child's finger, but it's possible that's a mistranslation or just a little off. The video makes it appear as if the robot placed a chess piece on top of the child, as if it were confused.

The child was able to finish the tournament even though he was wearing a cast, but his parents may file a lawsuit, according to a translation by PC Gamer. The injury was thought to be an accident.

The president of the Moscow Chess Federation said that the robot broke the child's hand. For a long time, the robot has been exhibited with specialists. The operators didn't pay attention to it. The boy hurried and the robot grabbed him after the child made a move. We don't have anything to do with it.

This was the first time in Smagin's life that he could remember a robot breaking someone's finger.

The robot might have gotten confused or tried to make a move at a bad time.

It's good that there's not a violent chess bot on the loose at the same time.
