RG III: 'Everyone is sleeping on the Raiders!' (2:37)

The Raiders are in the AFC West. There is a time and a place for it.

4:01 PM ET

A laughing Davante Adams on Sunday clarified his comments that caused a stir when he compared his former quarterback with the Green Bay Packers to his new quarterback with the Las Vegas Raiders.

It's going to be a little bit of an adjustment, according to Adams.

Rodgers was named the Most Valuable Player of the Packers' Super Bowl victory.

Carr, who is entering his ninth NFL season, is a three-time Pro Bowler who holds virtually every passing record in Raiders franchise history and just appeared in his first playoff game, but has a career regular-season record.

Adams compared it to a musical mistake.

Adams said that being a rapper is very important. You have to have the bars." There needs to be a line. The delivery is a very important part of being a rapper. The other day, I wasn't a good rapper.

I'm not going to take away from that statement because why is he not a Hall of Fame player? I think that his career is deserving of Hall of Fame consideration. Is he the one with the most valuable player awards right now? It is not possible to say yes. Has he won a game? It's not yet. We're chasing that.

Carr's presence in Las Vegas was a big factor in the trade of the All-Pro receiver to the Raiders.

It's an adjustment even if you're a Hall of Famer. I wasn't talking about Hall of Famers to Hall of Famers. I'm not going back on my word.

Adams defended his quarterbacks.

"You look at the numbers that he's had and what he's had to work with and the adversity that he's had in Oakland and the type of things that have been going on here in the past." When I saw the original quote written out, I was like, 'Oh, gosh, here we go.' We're the only team in camp and people are going to blow this up.

Adams had a good laugh.

At the end of the day, I don't think he's going to be a Hall of Famer because he puts that type of pressure on himself, and that's not something I'm going to do. I didn't mean to say that It's going to be an adjustment even if you're a Hall of Famer. When you change quarterbacks, is that what I'm getting at? Run with it and do what you want with it.
