We need to eradicate racism - Luther Burrell

The Rugby Football Union is looking into allegations of racism in the sport.

Racist "banter" is normalised among team-mates according to Burrell.

Falcons launched their own investigation to find out if the racism he experienced happened at the club.

It will now be conducted by the RFU.

The ex-England centre was released by the Falcons.

The RFU will conduct the investigation and we will review their findings and recommendations before deciding on any appropriate action, the statement said.

  • Burrell hopes speaking out helps eradicate racism

In an interview with the Daily Mail, he said that he wanted to "empower younger generations" by speaking out about comments about slavery and bananas.

He said he won't name names but it's been going on for a long time.

He was capped 15 times by England and won the title with Northampton Saints.

He did not experience such abuse while with the team.

All club employees are currently undergoing equality, diversity and inclusion training.

They said they were determined to be a fully inclusive club.

He made his professional debut in 2006 and played for a number of teams before moving to rugby league and playing for a number of teams.
