According to the Wall Street Journal, the relationship between Musk and Brin has been strained due to an alleged affair between Musk and Brin's wife.

According to the WSJ, Brin gave $500,000 to the company during the financial crisis. The Journal reported that Musk gave Brin one of the first all-electricTesla SUVs in 2015, and that he frequently visited Brin's home in Silicon Valley.

Brin was told to sell his personal investments in Musk's companies as tensions between the billionaires increased, according to a source. It isn't clear how much the investments are worth.

The three of them were involved in the "world's weird friendship," according to a 2015 Vice article.

"We find stuff that eventually turns out to be real when we talk about crazy things with each other," Page said.

During Musk's early days with the electric-car company, the billionaires invested in it despite a not-so- promising test drive.

According to the WSJ, Brin and his wife were separated in the fall of 2021. After Brin found out about the alleged encounter, they filed for divorce.

According to people familiar with the matter, Musk begged Brin for forgiveness at a party. The Journal says Brin doesn't speak to Musk often.
