Liz Cheney says Trump engaged in the 'most serious misconduct of any president in the history' and is unfit for further office

Liz Cheney said that Donald Trump isn't qualified to be in the executive office again.

Donald Trump's violation of his oath of office, his violation of the Constitution, is the most serious violation of a president in the history of our nation. Cheney told CNN's Jake Tapper on Sunday that the committee hasn't made a decision on whether or not to make criminal referrals.

We take that very seriously. The Department of Justice is very focused on what we see publicly on what is the largest criminal investigation in American history, according to me. There is no doubt that the President of the United States is not up to the job.

One of the two Republicans on the committee investigating the January 6 riot and Trump's involvement has been outspoken about the fact that Trump's actions amount to a failure of duty.

In the past, Trump has said that he's made up his mind about running for president, but hasn't officially announced his candidacy.

"Any man or woman who would conduct themselves the way Trump did in trying to overturn an election and stay in power must never again be near the Oval office," Cheney said.
