According to the Wall Street Journal, the relationship between billionaires Musk and Brin ended after Musk had an affair with Brin's wife.
The Met Gala will be held in New York City on May 2, 2022.
An anonymous source told the Journal that Musk and Brin were separated but still sharing a home, despite the fact that Musk had recently ended his relationship with the singer.
Brin filed for divorce a month after he became aware of the affair.
The Journal reported that there is still tension between the two billionaires, with Brin telling advisors to sell his personal investments in Musk.
Forbes did not get a response from representatives for Musk, Brin and Shanahan.
A total of $253 billion. Forbes says that Musk is the wealthiest person on the planet. Brin is worth an estimated $89.9 billion, making him the third richest person in the world.
Recent scandals plague Musk's personal life. Insider reported in May that Musk's company paid $250,000 to settle accusations that he propositioned a flight attendant and exposed himself to her. Musk said the attacks on him were political. Insider reported earlier this month that Musk fathered twins with a woman who worked for him before she became an executive at Neuralink. Musk said he was doing his best to help the population crisis. Musk welcomed his tenth child, a baby girl born via a surrogate, just one month after the twins were born. Last month, Musk's daughter was granted a name and gender change in the Los Angeles County Superior Court in Santa Monica, after she said she wanted to be recognized as a woman and no longer wants to be related to her father. The social network sued Musk after he tried to back out of a deal to buy it.
The Wall Street Journal reported that the friendship between Musk and Brin had been ruined by an affair.
According to reports, the company paid $250,000 to settle sexual harassment allegations against Musk.
