The third day of San Diego Comic-Con is usually the busiest day of the year. This year was one of the best. I didn't have a chance to go to the convention floor on Saturday. I have a different agenda for the last day. Let's take a look at the big events of day 3.
The Rock, as he was known, used to say that he was the most exciting man in sports entertainment. He has a knack for big entrances, but it may be difficult to top this one. Johnson arrived in Hall H wearing his costume from Black Adam and standing on a platform that raised him high as video lightning and some fog effects surrounding him.
Johnson played it off as if he had missed Black Adam after slipping off stage. Before the Comic-Con trailer was released, he and his co-stars briefly discussed the film.
Black Adam was supposed to be in theaters on July 29 but will now be released on October 21. There were rumors before the show that Henry Cavill would announce his return as Superman. Fans walked away disappointed. It was a great event. It was a glimpse into the future of DC movies.
The cast of the show before Johnson arrived. They dropped by to promote their movie. Billy Batson and his alter-ego, Asher Angel, are feeling inadequate compared to heroes like the Justice League, so the story takes place a few years later. Billy's foster siblings are starting to separate from one another.
Why are the gods so angry? The trailer shows that the power of the gods is being taken by the family of the superhero. The daughters of Atlas want the powers back and will kill the family to do it.
It's a word that means "shabby!" The title of the movie is Fury of the Gods.
The Star Trek Universe panel had a lot to say. The third and final season of Star Trek: Picard will feature a reunion of the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Since Star Trek: Nemesis came out in 2002, we haven't seen any of them.
Picard season 3 won't be on Paramount+ until next year, but fans will be able to catch a new season of Star Trek: Lower Decks on August 25. The series will pick from the end of last year, when the U.S.S. Cerritos were taken by the U.S. Navy. The plot will be solved in time for the trip to Deep Space Nine.
Are you ready for something really crazy? Both Star Trek: Lower Decks and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will be coming together. Jack Quaid and Tawny Newsome will play their characters in live action. Characters from Strange New Worlds will be used in animation. It will be for an episode of Strange New Worlds and we don't know when it will happen.
Neil Gaiman was the co-showrunner for the live-action adaptation of DC's The Sandman, which was one of the highlights of the panel. Most of the footage was not uploaded to the internet. You will be able to see the show on August 5.
Death and Johanna Constantine are two of the key players in the Comic-Con trailer. The main focus is on Dream/Morpheus, the ruler of the Dreaming. He has been locked away for over a century and he has a lot of enemies who don't want him to regain his power.
The living nightmare known as The Corinthian and the fallen angel, known as the ruler of Hell, are two of the most dangerous enemies of Morpheus.
That's right, well. What should we do first? It is great to see all of the new and upcoming shows and movies from the comic book company. The lightning speed of these announcements made it difficult for a guy whose job depends on him being able to write quickly. Kevin Fiege, I didn't appreciate that.
The launch of She-Hulk on Disney+ on August 17 is the next big event in the MCU. The new trailer shows that the title character doesn't want to be a superhero despite the efforts of Bruce Banner. A fan favorite is shown in the new trailer.
The trailer for Black Panther is moving, but the comedy tone of She-Hulk is funnier. The nation of Wakanda mourns for their hero, T'Challa, because of his death. There won't be a lot of time for sadness on November 11 as the underwater kingdom of Namor poses a threat. Someone needs to succeed T'Challa and become the new Black Panther.
The beginning of The Multiverse Saga is the beginning of Black Panther. The same is true for this movie, as it's part of the same trilogy as the other ones. All of the Phase 5 projects were revealed within the first ten minutes of the panel.
Secret Invasion will be on Disney+ in the spring of 2023. The second season of Ironheart will be on Disney+ in the fall of 2023.
Save something for D-23, Feige. Perhaps he has done something. There are several open slots in Phase 6 and the projects that Feige revealed in Hall H were very exciting. Phase 6 of the Fantastic Four will start in November of 2024. The last two movies in Phase 6 will be Avengers: The Secret Wars and The Kang Dynasty. If the brothers sign on to direct those films, they won't be too surprised.
It took me three hours to deal with all of that news, and I almost missed the cosplay masquerade. Kevin Feige said that it was unforgivable. The Masquerade isn't covered by most of the comic book news or entertainment sites. Some of the most impressive costumes you will see outside of a movie are at one of the top cosplay events. Many of the contestants are ranked among the very best.
The creators of the Girl Genius comic have a very entertaining stage presence, which is one of the main reasons that Comic-Con's Masquerade is so enjoyable. It has become an audience tradition to annoy Phil by shouting the numbers of the contestants in the voice of Sesame Street before he laughs. Adding a lot of random noises.
Even though many of their characters don't have masks on, every cosplay contestant had to wear a mask. The contestants incorporated their masks into their act.
Extra masks weren't needed for full-body costumes This recreation of Kuiil is amazing.
Many of the contestants will incorporate comedy into their presentations. A gender-bent version of Hocus Pocus and a musical version of Farquaad squad won over the audience. This recreation of The Princess Bride's battle between Inigo Montoya and the Dread Pirate Roberts was very enjoyable.
An amazing take on Cosmic Ghost Rider was briefly shown before he fell off the stage and couldn't continue. Cosmic Ghost Rider was not given another chance. He received multiple awards at the end of the show and appears to be okay.
The take on the Hydra Stomper from the first episode of What If... was very good. In the world where Captain Carter was created, Steve Rogers wore the Proto- Iron Man armor.
That doesn't tell the whole story about how tall the costume was. The attention to detail needs to be looked at more closely.
A fan recreated a version of the classic monster suit and was on stage to represent the king of the monsters.
While the music was playing, he monster-stomped around on stage.
The best in show award was given to a creative blend of two properties. The way the creature cosplay was performed on stage displayed a lot of talent and skill, even though I wasn't able to get a good photo of it.
A cosplay judge came in her own costume as a superhero. I think that's nice.
I can't remember her name. I am happy to give her credit if someone gives her the information.
The panels from day 3 will not be the best. On the last day of the con, there is a slow news day. I want to finally get to the dealer's room and see what I have been missing. I am going to take pictures. Digital Trends readers will be able to read what I have to say in my final Comic-Con dispatch.
