During a Friday rally in Arizona, Donald Trump derided the Republican state House Speaker as a "RINO Coward" while campaigning for his GOP primary opponent.
The pressure campaign that was directed toward him over his refusal to entertain overturn now- President Joe Biden's narrow victory in the state in 2020 drew the ire of Donald Trump.
"Rusty Bowers is a RINO who participated against the Republican Party in the totally partisan unselect committee of political thug and hacks the other day and disgraced himself, and he disgraced the state of Arizona," Trump said.
The 10th district state Senate race will have a Republican primary next month, and the former president pointed out his endorsement of David Farnsworth.
The man is going to do a great job. You have a lot of advantages. Trump said that he would like to run against that guy.
During his testimony before the House panel in June, he said that he never told the former president of any major irregularity in Arizona's vote count or raised any doubts about Biden's win in the state.
Rudy Giuliani said that the former president's allies couldn't point to proof of fraud in the election.
"I don't know if that was a gaffe or maybe he didn't think through what he said, but both myself and others in my group chuckled at it," the speaker said.
The GOP-crafted legislation that would have allowed the Arizona legislature to overturn statewide election results was tabled.
Last week, the Arizona Republican Party's executive committee censured Bowers after his testimony before the January 6 panel, with Trump loyalist and former Senate candidate Dr.
She called on Republicans to replace him at the ballot box in the August primary after the executive committee censured him.
In a recent interview with Insider's Bryan Metzger, Bowers said that he would prefer to vote for a new candidate in the presidential election in four years' time. The speaker mentioned Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and former Vice President Mike Pence as potential candidates.
He said that DeSantis has some of the Trumpian persona, but he has some character. "Mr. Vice President" My family is very fond of Mr. Pence.
