Elon Musk reportedly had an affair with the wife of Google co-founder and longtime friend Sergey Brin, prompting his divorce earlier this year

According to the Wall Street Journal, Musk and Brin's wife had a romantic affair last fall.

Brin's divorce was caused by the affair, according to the WSJ. The two filed for divorce just weeks after Brin found out about the affair, according to the Journal.

Financial advisers told Brin to sell his investments in Musk's businesses because of the strained relationship between the two. Brin invested half a million dollars in the company in 2008.

Brin and Shanahan were still living together even though they were separated at the time of the affair.

Musk had a rough few months in his personal and professional life. Insider's Julia Black reported earlier this month that the billionaire quietly had twins last November with the director of operations for Neuralink.

Errol Musk told The Sun that he was asked to donate his sperm in order to have more children like his son.

Musk is currently involved in a legal battle with the social media platform after pulling out of a deal to purchase it. In a letter filed by his lawyers, Musk claimed that the company had fulfilled its contractual obligations.
