People would want to sit on a beach and drink a drink. There is a new contest from Hotels.com.

The hotel booking website is looking for a retro beach motelier who will get paid $15,000 to visit the company's "10 best retro beach motel" across the U.S. There is a $10,000 travel stipend, as well as a $5,000 salary to be spent on whatever you want during your travels.

The winner of the contest will get a retro polaroid camera, a solar-powered AM/FM radio and a cooler. The winner needs to use the camera to document the trip.

If you want to apply, you have to fill out an online questionnaire that includes questions like, "If you time traveled to the 1950s, who would you spend your beach vacation with?" and "Describe why the retro beach motel is your perfect place."

The company will choose a winner based on creativity and originality, quality of submission and fit to theme.

The winning itinerary includes old-school boutique beach motels, like San Diego's The Pearl Hotel and The Montauk Beach House. Hotels.com recently ranked the top 10 retro beach motels in the U.S., based on factors such as average guest ratings, motel design, price and location.

A mix of modern amenities and retro looks is their common thread. Many of the establishment's original 1950s kitschy design elements are still present in the refurbished Hotel Vagabond.

Hotels.com stated that timeless motels are budget-friendly but will transport beachgoers back in time to truly relax.

Smaller boutique hotels can be more affordable than larger hotels. With travel numbers rising alongside high gas prices and record inflation it makes sense for anyone booking a beach vacation to save money.

The winner will be notified by Hotels.com by August 12 and the winner will be able to enjoy the beach before the summer ends. The entrant must be at least 21 years old.
