Reports say that thousands of baby chickens died from excessive heat after they left in the afternoon.
The temperature was 99 degrees when the chicks were left on the tarmac.
The birds were shipped on a Delta flight from Minneapolis-St. Paul arrived at Miami International Airport at 1 pm on Tuesday.
The metal carts were used to carry the chicks from the plane to the sun.
Four hours later, they were found during a routine patrol by a Miami-Dade airport employee.
According to the farm's representatives, only 1,300 of the 5,200 birds made it to their destination.
The staff at the Big Bird Family Farm in the Bahamas said they had never seen anything like it before and were horrified by it.
The birds had died as a result of excessive heat while waiting to be transported to the Bahamas, according to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
The transportation and delivery of the birds is done by another company.
Law enforcement officials would conduct an investigation into the incident.
