Hours after he was found guilty of contempt of Congress, former White House adviser Steve Bannon said he was willing to go to prison if it meant supporting his former boss.
The House committee's investigation into the attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021. The committee subpoenaed him to sit for a deposition and give documents, but he refused.
The maximum sentence for each count is a year in prison and a $100,000 fine. He is going to be sentenced in October.
He said he had lost the battle but not the war and would appeal.
During an appearance on Tucker Carlson Tonight on Friday night, Bannon stood by his actions. Carlson asked if he thought he would be safe if he went to jail.
I'm going to jail if I go. "I will never back off a second, I was a Naval officer in the 70's and 80's."
"I support Trump and the Constitution and I'm not backing off one inch, and if I go to jail, so be it, I think the law is on my side," he said.
There is going to be a real committee and this is going to be supported by Republican grassroots voters.
