The new-look Great Britain quartet won a bronze medal in the 4x 100m race.

With Jona Efoloko preferred to Adam Gemili on the opening leg, Britain held off Jamaica to get a medal.

Canada used a slack final from the US to take gold.

Great Britain's women missed out on a medal in the 4x 100m relay because of an injury to Dina Asher-Smith.

She hobbled through the last 15m of her third leg after finishing fourth in the 100m and third in the 200m.

Great Britain fell back to eighth as she slowed. On the anchor leg, Neita ran the fastest split of the race, but it wasn't enough to get him back in the race.

Asher-Smith said that when he went round the bend his legs stopped corresponding with him.

I have a lot more races to do this year, so I hope it's not serious. We were running well.

Asher-Smith has been named in the England team for the Commonwealth Games, which starts next week, and has three titles to defend in August.

The United States won the race at the front of the race.

The Jamaica quartet of Shericka Jackson, Elaine Thompson-Herah, andShelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce were trying to defend their title.

Jackson's surge for the line by four hundredths of a second gave the Americans an advantage that they held for the rest of the race.

Germany received a bronze medal.

'We are serial medallists'

Great Britain's men narrowly lost out to Italy in the Tokyo Olympic final last summer, before being stripped of silver due to a positive test for a banned substance. The team won silver and gold at London in the last two years.

There are vacancies because Gemili is out of form. Zharnel Hughes and Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake moved away from the pack and Prescod, who has struggled for fitness and focus, came home hard.

Mitchell-Blake is the captain of the British team in Eugene.

Every year we get a medal and it's becoming normalised and under appreciated.

The goal is to get a gold medal at the next world championships and then go onto Paris in the year 2024. We have to raise our game in order to get better.

Going forward, it's fuel for the fire. We can't control the past, we can control the present, and that's what we need to focus on.

The final race of the day didn't end with the expected home team victory as a mistake by Hall opened the door for Canada's 200m Olympic champion to win.

It was a pleasure to ruin the party for them.

Eilish took 11th place in the 5000m final, two places ahead of Jessica Judd.

A world record-holder and an Olympic champion were also in the top six.

It was difficult. It took all my will to keep going and not stop.

The pace of those girls is crazy. I did what I could, but there wasn't anything else for me.

It has been a challenge for me, but I'm proud of it. I made a couple of finals.

Korir won the gold medal in the 800m at the Olympics and then added the world title in the same event. Canada's Marco Arop took gold ahead of Algeria's Djamel Sedjati.

Korir's winning time is less than the world-leading time run by Max Burgin. Burgin developed a deep vein thrombosis and pulled out of the event.

Felix returns on a wing and a plea

The Great Britain's 4x400m relay team of Ama Pipi, Laviai Nielsen, Victoria Ohuruogu and Nicole Yeargin finished second in their heat and advanced to the final.

The United States won a bronze medal in the mixed relay earlier in the week, but that didn't stop the American quartet from running in it.

I was diving into some hot wings and a root beer float, but I got a phone call and they asked if I was willing to come back and help the team get a position, so I dropped the wing!

Before the final on Monday, the United States could be strengthened with the likes of 400m hurdles champion Sydney McLaughlin and Olympic 800m champion Athing Mu.

The long jump final was held earlier in the day at the World Championships.

The pair jumped a combined 6.68m to finish in the top 12.

The last day of the Championships will see the finals between Ugen and Sawyers.

World Athletics Championships: Jazmin Sawyers & Lorraine Ugen through to long jump final

Sawyers said the job in qualification was to make it to the final.

It's my first world final at my third try so I'm really happy.

I don't know why I can't do it in the first round, but you know what. People pay for tickets, I have to give them three rounds of entertainment, I did it for them.
