Cruelty charges: Trooper hit loose horse with patrol vehicle

There is a capital city in the state of Pennsylvania. A Pennsylvania state trooper has been charged with animal cruelty after hitting a loose horse with a patrol vehicle and pinning it to the pavement, where it was euthanized.

The state police internal affairs division filed the charges that led to the suspension of Perillo. His bail was set at $50,000 during his Friday's court appearance.

He doesn't know if he has an attorney who can speak for him. The Pennsylvania State Troopers Association did not return a message.

Perillo was called to the scene of a horse on a highway.

The horse was on the road in Lower Oxford Township when it was hit by a car.

Perillo pinned the horse to the road after driving a vehicle into it multiple times. It was euthanized by another trooper.

Perillo is assigned to Troop J in Avondale.

The charges against Perillo were made public after the legal window ended. A copy of an officer's audio or video recording is required to be submitted within 60 days. Requests can be made by certified mail or hand-delivered and can be appealed to court.
