There is a belief within Major League Baseball that the San Diego Padres will make the biggest push to acquire Washington Nationals star Juan Soto.

The Padres are seen as the most motivated team on the trade market by rival executives, making them a strong threat to pursue and land the catcher.

There is a growing feeling within MLB that the trade of Soto is a real possibility since his value will only decrease as his salary goes up and he gets closer to free agency.

It was first reported by Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic last week that the Nationals had a 15-year, $440 million offer on the table, but it was the third time that the catcher had turned it down.

As a result, the Nationals opened themselves up to trade offers for Soto, with Rosenthal noting that the organization feels like he won't ever re-sign with them if he isn't willing to accept the $440 million offer.

He played a key role in helping the Nats win their first World Series title in 2019, winning a batting title the following year with a.351 average, and finishing second in the NLMVP voting last season with a.313/.465/.534 slash line, 29 homers

Even though his batting average is down this season at.250, he still has a.403 on-base percentage and leads the NL in walks with 81.

He would give a huge boost to any team that acquires him, and they would be a World Series favorite.

The Padres are currently in a wild-card spot in the NL. The Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets and Atlanta Braves have better records.

The San Diego Padres already have one of the most potent lineups in the game with the addition of Soto.

In the last few years, Padres owner Peter Seidler has made a lot of trades and signings.

Some of the big names who have been added to the fold are as follows.

If he does, there will be no team in baseball capable of matching the middle of the order of the three players.
