In the popular series "Selling Sunset," working as a real estate agent in Los Angeles is the most glamorous job in the world.
The show is about a group of women who work for The Oppenheim Group. The chic realtors are filmed showing multi-million dollar houses to wealthy clients, driving around in flashy cars, and eating out.
In an interview with Insider, Emma Hernan said that the job of a real estate agent isn't as glamorous as people think.
"Everyone doesn't know that I'm crawling in a small space trying to see if the house is okay for an inspection," Hernan said.
Despite being filmed wearing stylish outfits, Hernan has to wear a hard hat to help out the construction team.
Hernan created the garden because he wanted it to look perfect for staging. I told them where to put the plants.
Hernan said that selling Sunset doesn't show how many viewings the real estate agent has. She said that the amount of daily showings has to be cut down because they can't fit in one episode.
The Oppenheim Group is running around LA, attending back-to-back house viewings and meeting clients.
She said that if you tried to schedule to see 10 houses a day, one of the agents would change the times. There is a lot of hard work.
Filming can last from three hours to 10 hours or more per day and Hernan can often work 15 hours a day. Although it takes up a lot of time, Hernan, who is also the CEO of her own plant-based food company, said she is able to focus on other work.
Hernan said he worked his butt off to get where he is now. She said that her biggest real estate deals were at least fifteen million dollars. The star of the circus would be me.
