The miracle here is the pilot's condition, as the plane slammed into the Pacific just a few dozen yards from the beach. A guy chilling in the sand captured a video of the crash of the small plane in Huntington Beach. He yelled out, "Oh, dude!" as the plane crashed into the surf. I have it on camera. The pilot's survival may have been aided by the fact that he went down so close to the shore. The pilot of the plane was pulled from the plane by the lifeguards. He went to the hospital to have his injuries checked out. There was a junior lifeguard competition on that part of the beach, but they weren't involved in the rescue. Can't beat that kind of on-the- job training. The cause of the crash is being investigated.
