In a new interview with The Wall Street Journal, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that a ceasefire in the war with Russia would lead to a long conflict.

Zelenskyy said that "freezing the conflict with the Russian Federation means a pause that gives the Russian Federation a break for rest."

Zelenskyy said that Russia would use a ceasefire to regain strength and then restart its offensive against Ukraine.

In the next two or three years, Russia will seize two more regions and say "freeze the conflict" again. It will continue to go further and further. Zelenskky said one hundred percent.

He said that all the territories must be liberated before negotiations can begin. People think we can do it. The quicker we do it, the less deaths will occur.

Zelenskyy said that they would prefer to de-occupy in a way that wasn't military. We are dealing with who we are dealing with They will not understand anything until they are smashed in the face.

Zelenskyy's comments came after Putin accusedUkraine of standing in the way of a peace deal.

The Ukrainian leader told The Wall Street Journal that he didn't want to negotiate with Putin.

They kill people, destroy cities, and then say: "Let's negotiate" Who can they speak to? Is it possible with rocks? They're covered in blood and it's hard to wash it off. They will not be allowed to wash it off.

Hill was the top Russia expert on the National Security Council under the Trump administration.

Hill said that Russian President Vladimir Putin's goals in Ukraine have not changed despite Russia's problems with manpower and military equipment.

Hill said that Putin wants to subjugating Ukraine.

In the short- and medium-term, he might take what he can get. If he succeeds in getting some kind of nominal control of the Donbas, it could be a big risk. When the Russians feel that they're in a good position to press ahead again, there could be an effort to create an operational pause for regrouping.

A number of Western officials and Kremlinologists have made the case that Russia is losing steam in Ukraine and that it could be an opportunity for the city.

The chief of Britain's Secret Intelligence Service said on Thursday that Russia's forces appeared to be running out of steam and this could open the door for Ukrainian forces to strike back.

Moore said at the Aspen Security Forum that the Ukrainians would be able to strike back if they paused.

The former commanding general of the US Army in Europe told Insider that Russian forces areexhausted. Russia could potentially be pushed back to its pre-war borders by the year 2020.

The conflict has evolved into a war of attrition that is taking a toll on both sides.

The latest US intelligence assessments place the Russian death toll at around 15,000, with an additional 45,000 wounded, according to the director of the CIA.

Burns said that the Ukrainians have suffered as well. Significant casualties.

'The cost is very high. The gains are very low.'

Russia turned its attention to the east of the country after failing to take Kyiv. The fighting between Ukrainian forces and Kremlin-backed rebels had been going on for eight years prior to the Russian invasion. The rebels had control of roughly one-third of the Donbas by the time Moscow began its operation.

Russia has madeIncremental Progress since shifting the focus of the war to the Donbas Russian forces took control of Luhansk, one of the two provinces that make up the Donbas, in the early summer.

Gen. Mark Milley, chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, said on Wednesday that Russia has only moved six to 10 miles in the last few months.

It's very high. The gains are very low. The Russians are paying for every inch of territory gained by the Ukrainians. Some days you can get a kilometer or two from the Russians, but not much more than that.

The HIMARS weapons provided by the US seem to have made a difference in the fight against the Russians. On top of the 12 already provided, the Pentagon announced this week that it would be sending four more.
