Man attacks New York Republican gubernatorial candidate Rep. Lee Zeldin at campaign event

The man attacked Zeldin at the event.

Zeldin was speaking at a VFW post in Fairport, a village just outside of Rochester, when someone threw something at him.

Members of the audience subdued the attacker after he charged Zeldin.

The man was put in zip-ties by audience members after they disarmed him.

NBC News said the suspect may have had blades.

Zeldin is trying to oust Kathy Hochul, a Democrat.

Hochul was relieved to hear that Zeldin wasn't hurt and that the suspect was in custody.

It has no place in New York.

Andrew Cuomo was accused of sexual harassment by a number of women.
