The House January 6 committee revealed on Thursday that Donald Trump spent a lot of his time in the White House during the January 6 Capitol riot trying to get senators to delay certifying the 2020 election.
There are no White House call records from the time of the riot, but a former press secretary testified that Trump asked for a list of senators to call.
The committee said that Trump made the calls while in the White House dining room, where he was watching the riot on Fox News.
According to testimony from Trump White House officials, the president did not call any of the top security officials.
During the riot, it was reported that Trump spoke on the phone with a senator.
The committee has held eight hearings this summer and the second in prime time. The 187 minutes between the conclusion of Trump's speech at the Ellipse and his call for rioters inside the Capitol to go home is what the committee focuses on.
The committee will hold more hearings in September.
