Varane has no regrets about joining Man Utd

Varane moved to Old Trafford from Manchester United.

A combination of injuries and his new team's form cast a shadow over his debut season.

He missed out on the chance to win a fourth La Liga title and a fifth European trophy when he left Real Madrid.

He insists that he made the right choice.

He said that in football you have to improve. After a decade in the same place, I wanted to live somewhere else.

Manchester United are a great club and the premier league is great. I had no doubts about my decision.

A new start

Varane knew that there was a difference between challenging yourself and challenging for major honours when he joined Real.

The gap between United and Manchester City is so large that it's hard to see how they can catch up.

Varane can see reason for optimism with the new manager trying to bring more speed and flair to the team.

There is a new season. Varane called it a new start.

When we lost some games, we lost confidence. We have a lot of potential.

The new manager is happy. He wants us to push high up the pitch, with more space behind us. It is football that we enjoy so that is a good start.

Varane welcomes competition

One of Ten Hag's most significant moves this summer was to try and get Argentina international Lisandro Martinez.

It is thought that he will be involved in the game against Atltico Madrid on July 30.

In Tuesday's match with Crystal Palace, Ten Hag switched captain Harry Maguire to the right and spoke about how left-sided he is.

It would seem that Varane's position in the team is in question given that the United manager has confirmed that Maguire will continue as captain.

The player doesn't view the situation the same way.

He believes that competition is good for the team. He is an important player for us. The captain has a lot of good qualities.

The team will improve with this competition. This is a good club. It's a good thing if everyone wants to be part of the team.

'Ronaldo is a legend'

After seven years at Real Madrid, Varane went to work with the Portuguese at United.

A family matter and his desire to play for a club capable of competing for the European Championship are keeping him out of pre- season training.

If he moved, it would be a benefit for United because of his inability to press. It would be a big blow for those who thought he was the only reason the club didn't collapse.

The debate took place outside of the dressing room.

We know he's good. He's very well known. People will talk about the performance of the team and his performance.

cristiano is a great competitor. It's great to play with a legend like him, he always helps the team.
